April 2019
Suffering from a knee injury plus osteoarthritis. Life is a little grim. Last week I did two very short runs a 5k and a 6K. Sore knee but got there. I am trying to do lots of biking too to build up my stamina, as I have lost it.
January.
Running, it’s been hard motivating myself to get our there on a regular basis. I know I want to and I know I need to, especially as I want to run longer distances. Yes, I want to move up to Ultra’s and I want to do more mountain marathons/events. I am just finding it difficult getting out there after a long day at the office and a 1 hour plus drive home. Also, my weight is something it shouldn’t be, again I need to run more but also need to eat and drink less.
I’m reading books and checking both the Facebook sites “Kiwi Rave Runs” and “Wild Things” to motivate me to get out there. It is a little easier at weekends but there are all the gardening chores to do. I have to convince Myself that I have to do My thing, I must do My thing.
So what I have I been reading:
Running Man by Charlie Engle. He ran across the Sahara Desert, he has run and won many/most of the USA Ultras and had to fight against so much.
When the road ends. Techniques for running off road.
Running weight. Also a cookbook associated with the above book.
Sunday –th December. Canterbury Half Marathon, Peagasus Town.
Last Sunday was the Canterbury Half Marathon, Pegasus Town, an extremely wet Sunday morning. I did the 9k run (still trying to get back to running). Not cold, just WET, WET, WET.
Yes I completed it 64 minutes! not fast and yes, I walked for 1/2 a Km at 7k into it. Just no stamina. For the first time in all my running another runner came past me and tried to encourage me to get running and carry on – so embarrassing. Oh, I thanked them for their encouragement but inside I felt so…
